Heritage Society
Glanmire Heritage Society was set up in 1984 to promote and preserve the history and heritage of the Riverstown / Glanmire area. Meetings are held monthly in the Community Centre. Projects undertaken to date include:
- Cork 800 event
- Bicentenary of the Church of Ireland Church of St. Mary & St. Anne
- Pageant to mark the 150th anniversary of St. Joseph’s Church, Springhill
- Commemoration of the centenary of the former Riverstown National School (now the Community Centre)
- Pageant entitled ‘The 32 Counties of Ireland’
- Commemoration of 1798 entitled ‘The Rising of the Moon’
- Photographic Exhibitions, Talks and Slide Shows
- Book of old photographs entitled ‘Glanmire and Environs – People, Places, Pastimes’
